Wisła bring Poland defender Głowacki home

Central defender Arkadiusz Głowacki has rejoined Wisła Kraków on a two-year contract as he looks to work his way into Poland's finalised squad for UEFA EURO 2012.

Poland defender Arkadiusz Głowacki will remain in his home country after UEFA EURO 2012 having agreed a two-year contract with his old club, Wisła Kraków.

The 33-year-old central defender won six league titles in a ten-year spell at Wisła before joining Trabzonspor AŞ in 2010. Głowacki started all six of the Black Sea side's 2011/12 UEFA Champions League group stage games, but injuries hampered his performances in Turkey.

The one-time KKS Lech Poznań player made his international debut in 2002 but was overlooked between 2004 and 2009 before being brought back into the fold under interim boss Stefan Majewski. More recently, Franciszek Smuda named Głowacki as a reserve when announcing his UEFA EURO 2012 provisional squad earlier this month, and the stopper could still make Poland's final 23-man party.
