15th February, 2012, Today the corporate world is looking for young management graduates who are need to be basically smart workers. They are need to be creative and innovative in handling critical issues in the business. The business environment is changing very drastically due to globalization. Further they are also expecting the young bidding managers need to take risk when it come to decision making quickly and timely decision making is very important in the absence of immediate boss. The success story of Mahindra and Mahindra of latest SUV 500 design is creation of the young engineers who is in the age bracket of 27 to 32 years . Appreciating employees at bottom of the pyramid is today successes mantra, where young entrepreneurs like Annand Mahindra did it at the one of the award functions where the best Drivers and fleet owners were selected who are innovative in managing the peoples problems like theft, saving fuel, managing long journey, giving delivery of goods safely to the customers at right time.
Keeping this in mind Sinhgad Institute of Business Management and computer application came out with various students and faculty together going beyond the curriculum at Lonaval campus by conducting various seminars and conferences at national level where distinguished industry experts faculties and students are invited to share their knowledge by way of presentations, panel discussion and various other deliberations in the area of management. Keeping this in mind in the area of marketing management we have conducted brand summit. The title of the seminar was
Brands Are Emotionally Connected with Consumers but Miles to Go: Dr. Harsh Verma
Sat. 4th Feb 2012, at Sinhgad Institute of Business Administration and Computer Application (SIBACA), Lonavala, the maiden Brand Summit was organized. The opening session witnessed the power pack presentation by Dr. Harsh Verma, Faculty FMS Delhi University who was also the guest of honour. Dr. Verma in his speech talked about the lost identity of the traditional business and elaborated the faceless consumerism. He further stated modern innovations broken down the relationship among the people. People become homogeneous and products also by citing the example of Radha becoming Radhika and Vice – Versa and the emotional connect which the brands do have with consumers.
Mr. Ashessh Awasthy, Ex. CFO, Google India talked about the commodity getting converted into brads with the help of technology in his chief guest address by taking the example of coconut oil becoming PARCHUTE. His narration of socially connected world was full of examples and one such of a defaulting bank which was not but somehow through negative world of mouth became Bank corrupt. .
Mr. Srinath Sridharan, Sr. VP Strategic Alliances Wadhwan Group in his key note address shared his views on Brand India and how it can be further developed, though he was little doubtful. From the country of snake charmers to the knowledge hub but still the hopes are there for branding with the rural people which actually constitute about two third of the Indian population. The technology should assist business houses to develop sustainable business model so that the fruits can penetrate in rural India, as well.
The Summit scaled a new height with its final session which was a panel discussion, moderated by Dr. Srini R Srinivasan and the panelist were Mr. Hemant Daande , President Raptokas Btat., Mr. Kavee Kumar , Head Globe Capital and Mr. Vivek Mendonsa, Marketing Director, Lawrance and Mayo. Srinivasan in his opening remarks commented on the countries having the strong brand identities. The panel was amused with the success story of FACEBOOK as a brand. The panel unanimously agreed that we are on the right track even in the socially connected world but many miles to go. Faculty and students actively participated in the question answer session.
