Kit Yourself out in a Bowling Shirt

Bowling Shirts are men's shirts that (in terms of its construction) resembles an ‘Aloha Shirt' (commonly referred to as a Hawaiian Shirt that are most typically printed, have short sleeves and collars). However, bowling shirts differ from Aloha Shirts considerably in appearance as they are usually more conservatively designed and do not incorporate the tropical and floral themed prints that traditionally appear on Hawaiian shirts.

There is a considerable range of fabrics, designs and colours that can be incorporated in the construction of bowling shirts, however, the most common colours that are used are contrasting earth tones (such as greys, browns, tans, whites, oranges, greens and occasionally reds) and simple geometric patterns. The more expensive designs on bowling shirts can be made out of silk and can also feature a single left pocket on the left breast, however, if the customer would prefer, small logos (such as the team crest) and monogrammed letters are also common design options which can be added to the left breast.

Although these garments are (as the name suggests) most commonly worn by members of a ten-pin bowling team, Bowling Shirts are also a very popular item of clothing with people who are fans of Rockabilly clothing (items of clothing that resemble those popular in the 1950s). Although there has always been a demand for such items of clothing since the days of Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and James Dean, it has been argued that Bowling Shirts have experienced an increase in popularity as a result of the popularity of the American T.V. Show ‘Two and a half men' in which Charlie Harper, the character played by Charlie Sheen, seems to wear such a garment in every episode.

If someone was looking to purchase a Bowling Shirt, either because they wish to kit out a bowling team or because they are a fan of rockabilly clothing, there is a large number of suppliers who are able to oblige. These suppliers are able to provide their customers with a large selection of bowling shirts to choose from with a multitude of designs and many possible colours. The shirts provided by these suppliers can also incorporate a typically ‘rockabilly' design on the back (again, this is available in a wide range of fonts and colours) and can also, as previously mentioned, stitch monogrammed initials into the shirt in accordance with the wishes and request of their customers.
