Hook Grip ® – what does it mean?

Hook Grip ® is committed to the advancement of human performance. A "hook grip" by definition is an overhand grip on an Olympic bar where the thumb is tucked under the fingers which allows an athlete to securely clasp the bar while lifting heavy weight from the ground. The "hook Grip" is closely associated with Olympic lifting; one of the oldest and fundamental fitness movements.
Olympic lifting has become more popular in recent times as CrossFit has become a mainstream fitness program. To us, the Hook Grip ® brand means "back to the basics of fitness".

How we started –

I started CrossFit in 2011. CrossFit was appealing because there weren't any fancy machines and high tech solutions to getting fit. The answers to reaching my fitness goals were kettle bells, Olympic lifting, box jumps, sit ups, pull ups, rowing, and sheer determination to always do better and push myself to the point of failure.
I experienced a unique environment inside the box. Everyone showed up to challenge themselves and everyone knew there were no secrets to being fit. I quickly learned what FRAN meant and became keenly aware of "no rep."
About nine months into CrossFit, I searched for brands that were associated with fundamental movements that were synonymous with determination and hard work and couldn't find any. Six months later we launched Hook Grip ® to communicate just that.
Hook Grip ® promotes healthy living inside and outside the box.

Fitness Trends

Fitness programs are continuously being modified and reinvented. New equipment, infomercials and fitness programs are hitting the market at a record pace as consumer awareness peaks and our population is more conscious of their health than anytime in human history.
It is our observation that people are drifting away from the standard gym routine and are pursuing the sport of fitness. We frequently ask our customers what they do for fitness and are learning that more and more people are dropping their gym to pursue a more team oriented fitness program.
There appears to be a renewed interest in fundamental movements (squat, press, clean, dead lift, and snatch) as the prescription for complete fitness.
